My gravel bike has integrated cable and hydraulic hose routing, so removing the bar and even moving the bar to pack for travel was a no go. I had been looking at the Aerocomfort 3.0 for a while and finally pulled the trigger. The bag construction is very good with attention to detail. It is a soft bag, so I expect wear and tear will occur over time, but it needs to protect the bike more than anything. I just packed it for the first trip and here are my thoughts so far.
Pros: Ease of packing, minimal disassembly, secures the bike, lots of room for your panniers and gear.
Cons: Rear derailleur looks exposed (so much that I purchased the new rear derailleur storage bag from Scicon). I don’t want a bent hanger from ruining my trip. This storage bag should be standard issue and part of the design. Next are the wheels, they seem adequate, but moving the packed bike I find they are a bit too small and seem to catch on small obstructions/debris if I’m not careful. The center of gravity is high and the narrow platform with small wheels is not the most stable.
I really like this travel bag and if you want to minimizes bike disassembly while protecting your bike, this is the ticket.
