INNOVATION & DESIGN CENTER
Aerostorm is the result of work carried out within the Innovation Center of Scicon Sports in Italy, where designers, graphic artists, engineers, and prototypists collaborate to create products demanded by athletes worldwide.
Among the key figures driving this innovation is David Michaud, a Swiss designer with over 20 years of experience in sports eyewear. A graduate in industrial design from Los Angeles, Michaud is renowned for his ability to seamlessly merge functionality and style. As the head of Scicon Sports’ Innovation and Design Center, he leads the development of eyewear designed to meet the demands of elite athletes.
VISION ADAPT LENS GEOMETRY
The two peripheral angular slots allow the Monolith Optics™ frame to flex and adapt seamlessly to the natural contours of the face, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit. This innovative design prevents lens distortion, guaranteeing optimal clarity and an unobstructed field of vision at all times.
TactiGrip™ Flexible Temples
The TactiGrip™ temples, featuring a distinctive diamond-shaped design, are crafted from high-quality flexible nylon, co-injected with non-slip TPE thermopolymer tips to enhance grip, stability, and long-term durability. This advanced construction allows the frame to adapt seamlessly to various face shapes, providing a secure and pressure-free fit for all-day comfort. TACTIGRIP™ NOSE PADS
The nose pad, the primary point of contact between Aerostorm and the face, is available in three interchangeable sizes, made of TPE TactiGrip™ thermopolymer. Its design is the result of two years of research under the 3D Face Fit program, which uses facial scanning technology to ensure an optimal fit.
VORTEX FLOW™ VENTILATION
The slim, peripheral, and upper VortexFlow™ vents are designed to prevent fogging during low-speed activities while blocking sunlight. These technical details enhance the glasses’ performance, and the perimeter laser engraving adds a touch of elegance and character.
Space Toric Vision™
Space Toric Vision™ is crafted from molded polycarbonate with a base 7 and base curve 2, and is equipped with VisionAdapt™ angular slots that allow the frame to expand according to the shape of the face without deforming the lens, ensuring perfect, clear vision. It also features VortexFlow™ ventilation and laser-cut profiles, and is designed to expand the limits of peripheral vision, creating an unprecedented field of view. Its toric architecture integrates seamlessly with the eyewear frame, wrapping around your gaze to provide complete protection against wind, dust, and UV rays—an invisible shield for every adventure.
PVD Technology
The color of the Aerostorm lens is achieved through a technique known as Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD). In a controlled environment, metallic particles are released onto the lens in multiple layers. The interaction between the coating thickness and the nature of the metal allows light to reveal a unique hue. This interplay also gives rise to the exclusive chromatic nuances we have created. This process not only enhances the material but also hardens the lens for exceptional wear resistance. PVD technology is an environmentally friendly process, free from harmful chemical solvents.
SlideFit™ RX Optical Insert
The SlideFit™ optical insert for Aerostorm allows for quick mounting of prescription lenses and can be removed in seconds with the Ejector™ system. Prescription lenses (not included) can be easily installed by a qualified optician. Utilizing Nylor® technology, the insert provides an innovative solution that combines lightness and durability, with a thin nylon thread securing the lenses to the frame. Two silicone anti-shock pins prevent contact between the prescription lens and the sun lens, avoiding scratches. Ideal for contact lens wearers, it helps reduce eye dryness and ensures perfect vision during any sports activity.
