No component of eyewear is more important than its lenses, this is why Scicon Sports, chose NXT® material lenses (trademark of Essilor® Italia) for some top-end models of our performance eyewear collection. Often in the past, a compromise between fragile lenses with high-quality and tough, robust lenses with poor optical clarity had to be made by eyewear manufacturers. However, our desire to provide the world's athletes with a product that enables them to see the world and withstand any adventure meant we needed a lens that was impact-resistant, lightweight and provided top-quality optics.
NXT® (trademark of Essilor® Italia) as a material is unbreakable and provides excellent optical quality, originally formulated in the early 1990s for the windshields of new generation USA Apache helicopters. SCN-XT photochromic lenses optimize safety and performance to meet the uncompromising demands of professional athletes who settle for nothing less than the clearest, sharpest, and most accurate vision. It offers truer, more accurate visibility when up against conventional lenses that magnify images and make objects appear shifted from their true position. Photochromic lenses are optical lenses that darken on exposure to specific types of light, most commonly ultraviolet (UV) radiation. However, in the absence of activating light, the lenses return to their clear state.

SCN-XT photochromic pigments are incorporated in the mass of the raw lens, making them more accurate and reliable. They will never be affected by superficial scratches.
SCN-XT lenses are 16% lighter than CR39 and 10% lighter than common Polycarbonate.
SCN-XT lenses have lower refraction index internal stress and chromatic dispersion (Abbe Number) than Polycarbonate resulting in higher definition and sharper image.
Makes it nearly impossible for foreign bodies to latch on to lenses. It allows drops of water, grease, chemicals, dirt, to slip from the surface of the lenses. Prevents stains, fingerprints. Facilitates cleaning.
SCN-XT lenses are stronger than any other lens material. Guaranteed not to break or crack, even in the complex eyewear frames.
Unlike Polycarbonate and Polyamide, polymer SCN-XT lenses are not damaged by common chemicals or solvents (acetone, metyl alcohol, gasoline).
Combines the two key features that are, fast kinetics (activation and fading speed) and, large photo range, from cat. 1 (Tv 80% ) to cat. 3 (Tv 18%). All this resulting in a reduction of eye fatigue. No compromise technology.
SCN-XT lens is engineered to produce a specific spectral curve that optimizes transmittance across the entire light spectrum. Far more than a cosmetic characteristic, the color of an SCN-XT lens is a critical component that filters light at different wavelengths to enhance the visual experience of the wearer by controlling contrast, color and definition.
SCN-XT photochromic lenses respond to changing light conditions by adjusting the level of tint from lighter to darker. Instead of a static sun lens that’s either too dark or too light, SCN-XT photochromic lenses enhance the visual experience by dynamically controlling transmittance, allowing them to translate light in any weather condition for maximum comfort and performance.
